SADISTIC INTENT (us) – Iron Pegasus Records

At a time when Death/Black Metal was no longer popular as it was in the mid 80’s, Sadistic Intent were one of the handful of groups in the United States raising the flag of Death Metal! After a couple of rehearsal tapes and demos the band earned a name for itself in the international underground scene and decided to sign with Wild Rags Records. In 1990 the “Impending Doom” EP was released and a few tours followed in Mexico as well as the States! In 1991 Sadistic Intent self released a 7” EP titled “A Calm before the Storm” and split shortly after.
In 1994 the Cortez brothers brought back Sadistic Intent from the dead with the properly titled “Resurrection” MCD the first recording in which Bassist Bay Cortez would also handle the vocal. The band kept busy on the live West Coast circuit especially in Los Angeles now being recognized as a headlining act upon the local scene. In 1995 Sadistic Intent released a demo titled “Ancient Black Earth” reprinted in 1996 the same year they were featured on a successful tribute to Celtic Frost.
In 1998 the band released a split 7” EP with a German Black Metal group called Ungod through Merciless Records (Ger.). In 1999 Sadistic Intent recorded a song for a tribute to California’s legendary Possessed on which Jeff Becerra, original Possessed front man is actually featured on vocals! That same year the band recorded for yet another Dwell Records tribute, this time for L.A.’s own Slayer which literally introduced Sadistic Intent to thousands of “slaytanic” fans!
In 2007, Jeff Becerra would eventually ask the Cortez brothers to help reform Possessed. Sadistic Intent would tour as Possessed with Jeff Becerra on vocals from 2007 to 2010.In 2014 Sadistic Intent released Reawakening Horrid Thoughts, a 12-inch laser-etched EP through Iron Pegasus Records.
Throughout the years, Sadistic Intent has toured in various countries around the world such as Norway, Brazil, Finland, Mexico, Germany, Chile, Holland, Italy, Switzerland, Denmark, Greece, Belgium, Australia, Singapore, and USA.

DEMILICH (fin) – Svart Records

Demilich have deservedly become one of the most legendary bands to emerge from the Finnish metal underground. While they are obscure in the grand scheme of things, they are well known in the metal underground and probably need no introduction to most underground death metal fans as they could be considered one of the most important bands in codifying the “dissonant and technical” strain of death metal alongside Quebec’s Gorguts.
The sheer experimentation of this music represents a progression of the genre of death metal that has seldom been equalled elsewhere, and the music is much more complex than it first appears on the surface.
The band was created in Kuopio, Finland during 1990, established by vocalist / guitarist Antti Boman, bass player Jussi Teräsvirta plus drummer Mikko Virnes. The cassette demos ‘Regurgitation Of Blood’ and ‘The Four Instructive Tales… Of Decomposition’ surfaced the following year, after which Barathrum guitarist Aki Hytönen was added to the roster. ‘…Somewhere Inside The Bowels Of Endlessness…’ followed in 1992. In February 1993 Demilich released their debut album, ‘Nespithe’ which has later become an underground classic. The band initially disbanded in 1993, but was resurrected in 2005-2006 again in 2010 and now active since 2014 with an American tour under their belt among several festival performances.
The band’s live performance is consistently fantastic; this is demanding material from a technical standpoint and the four members of Demilich are more than up to the challenge of performing it. This music genuinely sounds like it was composed and performed by aliens!

BLOOD INCANTATION (us) – Dark Decent Records

The band’s sound features “a psychedelic take on classic death metal” and melds “technicality with tectonic riffs, cavernous vocals and eerie, Dodsengel-like moments of caustic stillness.” On the band’s style, Stereogum’s Aaron Lariviere wrote: “Screaming leads cut a swath through the churn of atonal rhythm guitars, blending the bright melodicism of late-period Death with the alien tones of Morbid Angel circa Domination.” The band’s lyrics mainly deal with topics such as space and death.

FUNEBRARUM (us) – Doomentia Records / Cyclone Empire Records

The band has gone through many line-up changes over the years but is now playing and recording with a steady line-up sonsisting of Daryl Kahan plus members of Ascended Dead, Necrosic, Trepanation and Chthe’ilist. With this line-up the band entered Volume Five studios to record their latest release “Exhumation of the Ancient Dead” on Doomentia Records / Morbid Wrath. Followed by a performance at Netherlands Deathfest and successful European tours with Interment (swe) and Phrenelith (dk).
Once again the band has a line-up of people dedicated to death metal and know how it should be played.

MASTER (us) – F.D.A Rekotz

On September 27th 2013 Master released their 12th full-length album „The Witchhunt“ featuring 11 new stunning trax of rotten classic death metal, catchy and varied in the American way, the classic way death metal was meant to be. Thick, massive production to demonstrate superb songwriting and musicianship. MASTER is back in best shape since years and with “The Witchhunt” where they wrote another death metal milestone, build their own monument to the next level. The album comes with an fantastic artwork by ArtWars Mediadesign.

VENENUM (d) – Sepulchral Voice Records

Massively praised by the relevant music press and many veterans (i.e. Fenriz and Frank Stöver), Venenum started touring across Europe with bands such as Sonne Adam, Tribulation/Ketzer/Alchemyst, Watain/Degial and latest in Aptil with Reveal from Sweden. Additionally they have played dozens of club shows and festivals in the North, South, East, and West, of Europe like Hells Pleasure, Party San Open Air, Wolfthrone Festival, Hell Over Hammaburg etc., always convincing with their stunning live shows and remarkable appearances. In March 2017 Venunum toured Eruope with Sweden´s Reveal and again in February of 2018 they hit the roads of Europe with Denmarks Slægt for the succesfull “Europe in Trance tour”.

Degial (swe) – Sepulchral Voice Records

In times when the renunciation of the origin is fashionable and dilutes its essence, DEGIAL comes and redefines the abominable sacred core of Death metal!
After the successful debut “Death’s Striking Wings” in 2011 and the praised sophomore album “Savage Mutiny” in 2015 they return with the most violent & merciless album in their career. “Predator Reign” is an intonation of the devil´s wrath and it is a lesson in how Death Metal has to sound and how it is to be presented. A 39 minutes ride of perfectly skilled and performed furiousity. A top notch production by Mersus in the Underground-Studio and a straight but bewitching artwork by Paolo Girardi and Erik Danielsson leave no questions unanswered. Gasp for air within a pure maelstrom of crushing riffs, drum-explosions, solo-shredding and bestial vocals. Moreover, among all this madness the band is still able to create mind-ripping harmonies that will haunt your dreams.
While others try to get rid of the danger and violence in the devil´s music, DEGIAL let in all the murderers, the ancient ones, the morbid angels & the possessed slayers and spit out sheer terror & destruction. Where others nightmares end, DEGIAL begin. So bleed for the devil. With albums like “Predator Reign”, he repays thousand fold. Godspeed, live and light. Welcome death and night!

PISSGRAVE (us) – Profound Lore Records

“It’s one of the nearest things to a perfect slaughter that one is likely to find in 2015. Suicide Euphoria comes out of practically nowhere. With only a demo to their credit, Pissgrave just seemed to walk into this one with cleaver in and and swing it around for thirty minutes, sparing no one in its path” – Metal Injection
“Suicide Euphoria shall remain as one of the most inverted, depraved, insulting, negative, ass-backwards and anti-human albums to see the light in 2015” – Cvlt Nation

https://profoundlorerecords.bandcamp.com/album/suicide-euphoria
TRIUMVIR FOUL (us) – Vrabusalat Records/Invictus Productions/Blood Harvest Records

Triumvir Foul began in 2014 as a two-man project, focusing on the worship of death and destruction, which was matched by their ugly and depraved death metal sound. After several line-up- changes, Triumvir Foul’s return to their original two-man line-up has allowed them to create, a more focused and raw sound, fusing the atmospheres of both their 2015 eponymous album and 2014 debut An Oath of Blood and Fire demo. Their constellation is a 4-piece band feat. 2 members of Ash Borer plus members of Predatory Light, Anhedonist, Torture Rack, Sempiternal Dusk.
Their music is an unrelentingly dense, filthy expanse of morbid Metal of Death bestiality, base and belligerent at the core and yet plumbing depths of the psyche that otherwise betray such a seemingly simple, on-the-surface assault.
Triumvir Foul delves into the perverse evolution of unhinged hedonism and carnal irreverence through the exploration of carnage in the spectral realm. Expanding beyond the themes of occultism and mythological allegories of the self-titled first album, the sophomore album Spiritual Bloodshed takes on a much more direct approach, clenching at the throat of one’s putrid desires.

EXECRATION (no) – Metal Blade Records

On their third and fourth full-length albums, the band takes a step forward and to the left, incorporating new elements to their sound, spanning a wide set of genres, from black to heavy metal. Refining their already unique take on doomy, atmospheric death metal, and throwing in a multitude of refreshing twists and turns, Morbid Dimensions and Return to the Void are documents of a band carving out their very own niche. Unafraid of opting for unusual and daring solutions to get exactly where they want to be, delivering death metal that draws clear influences from the old days without being “retro”, and that sounds fresh without ever resembling the mass-produced and soulless, modern technical death metal.

NECROWRETCH (fr) – Seasons of Mist

Necrowretch was started by guitarist Vlad with “the impure intention to play sadistic-gravecracking-possessed death metal”. Inspired by Swedish extremists like Merciless, Nihilist or Marduk over to Finnish legends Impaled Nazarene or early US brutality like Death, it is Vlad’s rabid screams, the fast played, occasionally even melodic black metallic riffing that defines their trademark vicious and maniacal sound. While Necrowretch’s roots reach deep into the underground scene, a German debut show with Asphyx, a mini-tour with Morbus Chron, notable festival appearances at Kill-Town Death Fest 2010, the Fenriz curated Live Evil fest 2013, PartySan 2014, Necrowretch has gathered many new followers over the past years, no matter if they come from a death, black or thrash background. Developing constantly further, while remaining true to their original harsh and primitive sound, the trio is eager to expand its live activities and will hit the roads of Europe in September with Cemetery Urn from Australia.

PHRENELITH (dk) – Dark Descent Records / Me Saco Un Ojo Records

The debut album “Desolate Endscape” was recorded in April 2016 and released in the spring of 2017 to much praise by the international media and death metal metal fans.
Phrenelith plays a dark, filthy, low tuned, blackened, raw brand of death metal spiked with dual death grunts, not for anyone craving clarity or pleasant production values. Always with the memorable riffs in focus and drums varying from steamrolling slowness to meat grinding speed, PHRENELITH aims at making your ears and eyes bleed.

TAPHOS (dk) – Blood Harvest Records

The first eruption took place in form of the demo MMXVI and an EP, named MMXVII, followed soon after. Same year Taphos entered Ballade Studios where enough chaos was captured to produce what will be their first full-length. An aftershock from this séance took place in form of the ‘Premonition’ tape.
The debut full-length will be unleashed in 2018 through Blood Harvest Records

TAU CROSS (uk/us/can) – Relapse Records

The band’s self-titled debut was recorded in 2014 and released in May 2015, and immediately found widespread critical reception. Cvlt Nation called Tau Cross “a thundering sonic journey, conjuring magic and darkness from the listener’s soul,” and Metal Injection stated, “Tau Cross has absolutely killed it and we are all better off for having this album in our collective lives,” while Invisible Oranges described the record as “never losing a penchant for strong song writing” and warned listeners to “ignore it at your own peril.” Tau Cross may have set a high standard for its first record, but if the band has proven anything so far, it’s that they are incredibly skilled at meeting – and exceeding – expectations.
Tau Cross will be releasing the 2nd full length album “Pillar of Fire” in the summer of 2017 on Relapse records and will be performing some of the songs of that album on the forthcoming tour.
