Bedsore

Italy, 20 Buck Spin

— Project based booking by Daniel at daniel@killtownbookings.com

Bedsore is the shape that Jacopo Gianmaria Pepe and Stefano Allegretti gave to their multifaceted musical concept, raw and atmospheric, oneiric and violent, since 2018, with their first demo.

After Giulio Rimoli and Davide Itri join the band, Bedsore as four-piece record the full-length “Hypnagogic Hallucinations”: an intimate journey across the realms of dream and death, released in 2020 through Pittsburgh Death Metal label 20 Buck Spin. The use of synthesizers and keyboards, as well as harsh vocals and furious riffings represents an evolution toward new forms of Old School Death Metal, giving relevance to dreamy and dark atmospheres and providing the idea of a sleep tormented by blood-curdling dreams.

Bedsore continues to expand its sonic territories delivering a split album alongside Japan’s Mortal Incarnation, once more under the flag of 20 Buck Spin. In this new effort the Italian quartet seamlessly melds astral Black Metal, Death Metal and 70s Progressive straight out of a planetarium laser show, with a continuous twist into unconventional new directions of cinematic cosmic vastness.

2024 definitely marks a turning point: Bedsore release their second full-length “Dreaming the Strife for Love”, in an always renewed alliance with 20 Buck Spin. Inspired by the mysterious Renaissance book Hypnerotomachia Poliphili, the album merges an everlasting (death) metal foundation with prominent progressive structures, in a musical conception that goes beyond the specificity of a genre definition. Bedsore weaves a dynamic tapestry of sound which shifts from wounding riffs and sharpened screams to delicate soaring melodies and complex hybrid orchestral-like instrumentation. The winding structures of the tracks – their dynamic tempo changes and airy acoustic interludes – mirror the dreamlike odyssey of Poliphilo’s voyage constantly shifting between tension and release, chaos and harmony.

With already two European tours in collaboration with Killtown Bookings and appearances at renowned international festivals (including Courts of Chaos Festival, Kill-Town Death Fest, and Frantic Festival), Bedsore’s live performances aim indeed to convey this kaleidoscopic musical frame into a unique visual and aural experience, all-encompassing for both the audience and the four musicians. So, brace yourself! The journey is just at its beginning, and the future promises even greater sonic heights.
