Craven Idol are a North London old-school extreme metal horde formed in 2005. Following a successful US headlining tour in 2022 – in support their highly acclaimed third album Forked Tongues – the band is now scheming a European trek for 2023.
Craven Idol were formed in North London as a two-piece in 2005 by Englishman J. Scourger and Finn S. Vrath. A highly acclaimed demo caught the attention of Hammer of Hate Records, who subsequently released the Ethereal Altars MLP in 2010. Subsequently, a live force was then assembled, desecrating such prestigious ceremonies as the Armageddon Festival (UK) and Black Mass Ritual (FIN) that very year.
Craven Idol signed with Dark Descent Records in 2013, and the oath endures to this day. Following highly acclaimed debut Towards Eschaton (2013) and follow-up The Shackles of Mammon (2017); produced by Greg Chandler of Esoteric-fame, Craven Idol embarked on a European tour with Brazilian legends Mystifier in 2018, including a performance in Berlin as part of the Never Surrender Festival. The band also performed as North Of The Wall (SCT), Old Grave Fest (RO), In The Grip Of Winter (NL), and Finnfest (UK) in support of the album.
2021’s third album Forked Tongues is considered the band’s best work to date, and its success led to a US headlining tour in 2022. The trip across the pond included a performance at Decibel Magazine’s Metal & Beer Fest at the Philadelphia Fillmore.
