Killing Addiction is a veteran death metal band from central Florida with an established name that spans a history greater than thirty years.  Formed in 1988, they were among the bands who helped pioneer the early Florida death metal scene, and their first full-length recording, Omega Factor (JL America/Relativity Records), is considered a minor classic of American death metal.

Unlike many bands with such a long lifespan, Killing Addiction’s lineup has remained largely unchanged over their career.  Founding members Chad and Pat Bailey (guitar; bass/vocals, respectively), along with Chris Wicklein (guitar), were joined shortly after, in 1992, by Chris York (drums) to form what is considered the band’s classic lineup.  The Bailey brothers and Wicklein had written and performed on all Killing Addiction recordings until Chad’s untimely death in 2016, with York performing drums on all but three recordings in their discography.  Most recently, Devon McDonough was added as the newest permanent member (guitar) in 2020.

The thematic focus of Killing Addiction is about the bleakness of human vice.  This theme is combined with musical influences that draw upon the early years of death metal and thrash.  Over the years, Killing Addiction has performed live with genre giants such as Obituary, Atheist, Deicide, Incantation, Exhumed, Gruesome, DRI, Destruction, Warbringer, Jungle Rot, and many others
